With four powerful jet engines and a capacity to accommodate up to 600 passengers, the 747 was unparalleled until the advent of the Airbus A380. Despite the cessation of its production and the retirement of most fleets in favor of newer, more efficient jets, the allure of the jumbo jet has not waned.
Such is the grandeur of this aircraft that only the wealthiest among the wealthy can transform it into a palace. Case in point, the world's first Boeing 747-8 V-VIP brings private jet luxury to an entirely new level.
The modification of the 747 into a luxurious yacht is the handiwork of Greenpoint Technologies. Based in Washington, USA, the company is a leading Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) Completion Center, renowned for crafting superior aircraft products and custom VIP solutions for Boeing planes.
Making history as the world's first completion center to deliver a pre-ordered V-VIP 747-8 with a fully customized interior, Greenpoint maintains the confidentiality of its clientele, even down to the exterior of the aircraft.
Nevertheless, Greenpoint has released the floor plan of the massive private jet along with a series of interior photos. It can be observed that the interior boasts dedicated closets, accents of lapis lazuli stone, and hand-painted details.
Given the aircraft's Middle Eastern theme, Greenpoint transformed the 747 into a V-VIP jet fit for a wealthy sheikh from the Middle East, perhaps even a crown prince.
Examining its floor plan, the upper deck is divided into three sections. Right behind the cockpit is a space designated for the crew to rest. Behind it lies a spacious area with four first-class pods for guests, followed by a VIP lounge equipped with beds and toilets.
On the main deck, the main cabin is located at the front of the aircraft with a beautifully designed en-suite bathroom. The cabin comprises full sofas, captain's chairs with work desks, and a king-sized bed.
The color palette includes muted whites, golds, and deep blues complemented by wood accents; the color scheme extends throughout the jet. Interestingly, there's a large eagle photo above the sofa; the eagle is a spiritual symbol practiced in the Middle East for hundreds of years.
Behind the main bedroom is the Majlis, Arabic for sitting room. The expansive area features comfortable leather-clad sofas placed against the four walls and a small table in the center.
The dining area doubles as a conference room with fourteen captain's chairs surrounding a glossy long table in the middle. Interestingly, the V-VIP jet is also equipped with a health center in the middle of the main deck adjacent to the art gallery. Unfortunately, no images or details were shared.
The rear of the aircraft features a guest bedroom, an executive area with first-class seating, and a section with seats for regular staff, akin to those found in the economy class of commercial jets.
Every corner of the V-VIP Boeing 747-8 exudes luxury and excess, yet its interior is meticulously crafted. While Greenpoint has not disclosed the jet's price, estimates hover around USD 450 million, as reported by Luxurylaunches.
