He emphasized that Silicon Valley magnates should redirect their focus towards safeguarding Earth rather than investing in interstellar human migration.
"When I hear some people discussing plans to colonize Mars because Earth's environment may have degraded beyond habitation, I look at them and wonder, what are you talking about?" remarked Obama.
"Even after a nuclear war, Earth would still be more habitable than Mars. Even if we do nothing about climate change, Earth still has oxygen. As far as we know, Mars doesn't," he added.
Obama underscored the importance of continuing space exploration for the sake of scientific advancement and discovery. However, when it comes to human relocation beyond Earth, he advocated for prioritizing the preservation of our home planet.
"We are designed for this place, and it would be better if we invested in preserving it," Obama asserted, as reported by Insider.
