Russia Eavesdrops on German Officer's Discussion on Long-Range Missiles

In a startling revelation, discussions among German military officials regarding Ukraine were intercepted by Russia and disseminated across social media platforms, resulting in a significant embarrassment for Germany. The root cause? One officer communicated through an insecure channel.

Reported from the Associated Press, a German military officer utilized an insecure telephone line in a hotel in Singapore to participate in a conference call. Four senior officers of the German Air Force were discussing the potential deployment of long-range Taurus missiles by Ukraine to counter Russia. The interception not only embarrassed Germany but also escalated tensions between the two nations.

"Not all participants adhered to the prescribed secure call procedures," stated German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius regarding the incident. The unnamed officer in question was participating in the Singapore Air Show and proceeded to make a WebEx call using either his cellphone or the hotel's Wi-Fi.

"For the Russian intelligence services, this is a breakthrough. Hacking occurred in widely-used hotels," remarked Pistorius. Investigations are underway, and sanctions may be imposed on the officer involved, albeit promised to be lenient. "I won't sacrifice one of my best officers for Putin's games," he added.

The leaked 38-minute audio was posted by Margarita Simonyan, the editor-in-chief of the Russian government-funded television channel RT. Chancellor Olaf Scholz had previously stated his reluctance to approve sending Taurus missiles and expressed a desire to keep Germany out of direct involvement in the conflict.

However, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs threatened Germany with dire consequences in connection with the leak.

In the leaked audio, four officers, including the head of the German Air Force, Ingo Gerhartz, discussed scenarios for deploying Taurus missiles in Ukraine. The deployment of Taurus would only be feasible with the participation of the German military, as training Ukrainian forces to operate Taurus would require significant time. The recording also indicated that the German government had not yet approved the shipment of Taurus missiles. cari toko software di daerah cimahi dan sekitarnya.
