As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, a remarkable surge in internet traffic, particularly in gaming activities, has been unveiled by Telkomsel, Indonesia's leading telecommunications company.
Telkomsel revealed that internet traffic tends to escalate during Ramadan, alongside the increased usage of data services for gaming. The company, a subsidiary of Telkom, has introduced the GamesMAX Booster internet package starting at Rp 25,000, offering a total data quota of 11.5 GB. Unlike other internet packages, customers activating GamesMAX Booster are guaranteed uninterrupted gaming sessions.
Furthermore, Telkomsel announced its renewed partnership with Mobile Legends Professional League Indonesia (MPL ID) Season 13, marking the third consecutive year of support for the event.
"As the holiday season approaches, coinciding with Ramadan, gaming traffic naturally increases. Our partners at Moonton have also organized MPL, so we're riding the momentum. Our hope is that GamesMAX will be well-received," stated Benny Hamdani, General Manager of Loyalty and Digital Brand and Communications at Telkomsel, during a media briefing at the Telkomsel Smart Office in Jakarta on Friday, March 8, 2024.
"Indeed, as we approach Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, this is the moment. Typically, traffic increases by almost 20-30% from the usual levels, with the peak occurring during school holiday sessions," Benny added.
Regarding the overall data traffic on Telkomsel's network, Benny mentioned that games contribute approximately 70% of the total traffic.
"Today, 70% of Indonesian gamers use Telkomsel. The majority of them play Mobile Legends. The GamesMAX Booster package caters to all games, not just Mobile Legends," he emphasized.
Similarly, Auliya I Fadli, General Manager of Games and Apps, discussed the contribution of gaming to data traffic on Telkomsel's network, highlighting both direct and indirect contributions through data packages and game top-up vouchers.
"The contribution of gaming to data traffic is both direct and indirect. Direct contributions come from transactions via GamesMAX. So, purchasing game packages from Telkomsel not only enhances the gaming experience but also improves the network," he explained with dns 1.1.1.1 1.0.0.1.
